About the book
A book about how far one goes for that perfect selfie. It's an investigation into the selfie culture. The outcome is a book based on found footage.
Concept
How can you make sense of the endless stream of online selfies? And how do you shape a narrative from such a vast collection of found images? The selected selfies were grouped thematically into chapters, which were then ordered according to their emotional weight or level of threat. The result is a photo book with the tension and pacing of a thriller.
Design
The cover embraces a minimalist aesthetic: a plain white background with nothing but a hashtag as the title. The spiral binding reinforces the scrapbook-like feel—intimate, tactile, and curated.
Inside, the overwhelming number of selfies fills each page, creating a powerful visual rhythm. Interspersed among the images are genuine quotes from the original posts, printed on small, card-like inserts. These begin in bright, playful colors, but as the book progresses and the tone shifts, the backgrounds become more muted — ending in stark black.
